ABOUT ON THE JOB TRAINING
On the job training has become very popular amongst progressive salons that like to play an active role in the development of their apprentices.
On the job training means that the apprentice can stay in their workplace to undertake their apprenticeship schooling.
On the job training is ideal for salons that already provide training to their staff or for salons that find their apprentices are struggling to understand the course content in their traditional schooling and/or loosing time because of attending classes with large numbers.
Since the introductory of competency based completions for apprenticeships, on the job training can now play an integral role in the development of skills for the apprentice.
The time an apprentice spends in the salon is important to all aspects of the job role and by engaging your apprentice in an on the job training program, it helps to solidify and make relevent, the fundamental and manipulation skills that require practical development over a period of time.
Time is precious and now with competency based completions, the employer has to agree that the apprentice is competent in a task before they are signed off on the unit.
With on the job training, the employer can really see the development of skills as the apprentice learns.
ON THE JOB ASSESSMENT
On the job assessment means that your apprentice can undertake assessments of their units of competency in their workplace under actual workplace conditions.
Workplace assessment completely supports the puropse of all training package qualification requirements because all qualifications are written to compliment real job outcomes.
Workplace assessment is the natural place assessment should take place unless it is not possible to be assessed in the workplace.
For situations where it isn"t possible to undertake assessment in the acutal workplace, Helen Dunne Education provides students with the use of an alternative active salon to undertake assessment in.
This way the student is undertaking assessment under the closest possible scenarios to workplace practice.
Training and Assessment options are all discussed and agreed upon in consultation with the employer and the apprentice.
